Harry Redknapp stunned by what he was hearing about Harry Kane earlier this season

Harry Redknapp has described Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as “different class” on talkSPORT.

The Spurs cult hero also said he couldn’t believe some people were writing the 28-year-old off earlier this season.

Kane scored twice and played a role in two more as Tottenham ran out 5-0 winners over Everton on Monday.

Spurs made amends for their shock FA Cup exit with a five-star display against Frank Lampard’s side in north London.

Tottenham got their first goal after just 14 minutes.

Michael Keane fired Ryan Sessegnon’s cross into his own net under pressure from Kane.

Three minutes later, Son Heung-min fired an effort underneath Jordan Pickford’s body to make it 2-0.

Kane once again played a part, threading the ball through to Dejan Kulusevski to assist Son for the finish.

The England captain then got on the scoresheet himself in the 37th minute.

Kane latched onto a sublime Matt Doherty through-ball and fired home from just outside the box.

Sergio Reguilon added a fourth shortly after the restart, sweeping home from Kulusevski’s cross at the far post.

And Kane rounded off the scoring on 55 minutes, expertly volleying Doherty’s cross past Pickford.

His form is a far cry from his early-season struggles in front of goal.

“You can’s speak highly enough of him”

Kane’s brace saw him climb to sixth in the Premier League all-time record goalscorer list, with 176 goals.

He leapfrogged Arsenal icon Thierry Henry (175) and is closing in on fifth-placed Frank Lampard (177).

Sergio Aguero, Andrew Cole, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer make up the top four.

Redknapp told : “They’ve got the best centre-forward in the world in my opinion.

“Every chance [of catching Alan Shearer]. He’s got absolutely everything, he’s a complete all-round player.

“He’s a great professional, great lad to have around the dressing room as well as being out on the pitch.

“Just a complete pro and you can’t speak highly enough of him.

“He had a blip earlier in the year and people were writing him off.

“I couldn’t believe it as I know what he can do and he’s just different class. He can do everything.”
