Harry Redknapp says Spurs have a ‘top, top player’ who Jose Mourinho should give a chance to

Tottenham Hotspur striker Carlos Vinicius has been praised by Harry Redknapp, who says people at Spurs have described him as “fantastic”.

The 25-year-old joined Spurs on loan from Benfica in October, but has struggled for game time since his arrival in North London.

Vinicius has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side, registering a great tally of six goals and three assists.

However, Premier League football has largely eluded him, with just four substitute appearances in the competition totalling .

On Thursday night against Liverpool, when Harry Kane went off injured, Mourinho opted to move Son Heung-min into a central role rather than use Vinicius off the bench.

This raised concerns amongst fans as to what the Spurs boss thinks of the Brazilian, perhaps that he doesn’t see him as ready to lead the line.

However, Redknapp says that Tottenham insiders have told him that Vinicius has been really impressive since his arrival.

“They tell me the Brazilian boy is a fantastic player, the centre forward, people at the club,” Redknapp told .

“He was the leading scoring in Portugal last year and people tell me he’s a top, top player. Maybe it’s a chance to play him now.”

Vinicius joined Tottenham knowing that he was going to be playing second fiddle to Kane, but credit to him for making the most of the limited game time he’s had.

Former Spurs striker Peter Crouch deemed Vinicius a “fantastic back-up to Kane” .

Now, with Kane expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks, not to mention Mourinho is unwilling to use Gareth Bale at No. 9, now is Vinicius’ chance.
