Harry Kewell delivers verdict as Liverpool star Fabinho hobbles off with injury

(November 27) that losing Fabinho is a “big loss” for Liverpool after the midfielder was substituted in the first half of the 1-1 draw with Napoli on Wednesday night.

Fabinho, 26, has become absolutely crucial to Liverpool since his £39million move () to Anfield from Monaco in the summer of 2018. He has since clocked up 60 appearances in all competitions.

The Brazil international started against Napoli on Wednesday night, alongside James Milner and Jordan Henderson. But the midfielder picked up a knock and was replaced by Gini Wijnaldum after 19 minutes

Former Liverpool star Kewell was asked about Fabinho’s injury and he believes that although the loss of the colossal midfielder is a big one for Liverpool with Christmas approaching, he believes The Reds have plenty of cover.

“It is a huge loss, he’s been the sponge,” “He’s soaking everything up. When he receives the ball, he passes it forward – which many holding midfielders don’t do. It’s a big loss, but I’m confident in the squad that there are plenty to fill in.”

TBR’s view – Who do Liverpool have to cover Fabinho?

Henderson is the obvious man to fill in for Fabinho and is more than equipped to play in the holding-midfield role. James Milner has also played in that position and his ability to adapt to new positions will help him if he is needed.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been used in central midfield and holding midfield, while Naby Keita could do a job and Pedro Chirivella is in the reserves. There are plenty of options, but Liverpool will be hoping Fabinho returns soon.
