‘Happy to sell’… Arsenal now happy to offload two midfielders in January to fund new bid

Arsenal are willing to offload with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny this month, with the view to bringing in a new midfielder.

That’s according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, who has shared an update on Arsenal’s plans for the January transfer window.

The Gunners are widely expected to target reinforcements this month as Mikel Arteta bids to deliver a Premier League title to the Emirates Stadium.

It could lead to a few changes, particularly in midfield ܫwhere ൩Arteta has been slightly short of options.

Indeed, reports have already claimed the Gunners are willing to sell Thomas Partey this month.

The midfielder hasn’t featured for Ar👍senal since the start of October after picking up a hamstring injury.

And Alex Crook claims the North Londoners would be happy to offload him and Mohamed Elneny 🀅i🌃n an attempt to fund a move for a new midfielder.

Arsenal happy to sell Partey and Elneny

Speakin🌟g on , Crook s🐻hared an update on Arsenal’s interest in Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz.

And while he claims that will be a difficult deal to pull off this month, Partey and Elneny heading out the door remains a possibility😼.

“I think if Arsenal are going to strengthen anywhere this window🌳, I think Mikel Arteta’s priority is that midfield area,” he said.

“And therಞe are some players there who could move on. The likes of Mohamed Elneny who was back on the bench at Fulham at the weekend, he’s attracting interest both from clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

“Thomas Partey, left out the Ghana squad for the African Cup of Nations as he r𝓀ecovers from injury, I think he’s another player that Arsenal would be happy to sell. And again, there’s interest from Saudi Arabia ⛄in him during the summer transfer window.

“If they can offload thos𒊎e two, then they could use the mon🥀ey to bring in another midfielder.

“They’re massive fans of Do﷽ugꩵlas Luiz at Aston Villa, but you have to say that’s going to be a difficult transfer to do with Villa themselves part of the title conversation after quite an incredible first half of the season.”

Elneny returned to action back in October after a lengthy 🔴spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury. But the 31-year-old has found opportunities hard to come by since, making just four appearances in all competitionꦓs.

It does feel as if Arteta needs a fr🌞esh face or two in midfield, particularly with Partey’s recent struggles with injury.

Offloading him and Elneny could🐠 be smart from Arsenal, provided they find the right playerꦺ to replace the duo.

Luiz seems to be out of reach for ♓the Gunners this month but they have been credited with an interest in o🍎ther options, including Arthur Vermeeren.
