Haller and Hernandez could be a dream combination for West Ham

Earlier this week West Ham United confirmed the signing of Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Hammers have secured the French ace on a five-year deal, for a club record fee of £45 million ().

West Ham fans were left disappointed recently after missing out on long-term target Maxi Gomez to Valencia, but optimism is high again following the signing of Haller, who helped himself to 20 goals in all competitions last term.

The striker was with Eintracht for two seasons, and has had previous stints at FC Utrecht and Auxerre.

Haller, 25, will be tasked with replacing Marko Arnautovic, the club’s best forward before he joined Shanghai SIPG earlier this month.

Manuel Pellegrini has bought a top striker, and he could potentially be a fantastic partner for Javier Hernandez.

TBR’s view

At times last season, Pellegrini opted to use two strikers – and that is something that would really suit new boy Haller.

In 2018/19 his partnership with Luka Jovic was nothing short of brilliant, with the pair scoring 47 goals between them in all competitions.

Haller seemed to relish playing up top with a partner, and maybe £16 million poacher Hernandez () alongside him could be a recipe for success.

Not only is Haller lethal in front of goal, he is also an excellent target man.

There’s a good chance he’ll be able to pull the ball down in the box and lay it off for the Mexican to finish off the chances.
