Hale End full-back snubbed by Arsenal in 2019 enjoyed ‘top class’ debut for Premier League rivals last night
Arsenal academy graduate Vontae Daley-Campbell was eager to remain with the Gunners and hopefully make the breakthrough in North London.
However, when it seemingly a contract would not come his way, the full-back considered his future and opted to join Premier League rivals Leicester City.
This was in the summer of 2019, and 18 months on, Daley-Campbell has made his Foxes debut, starring for Brendan Rodgers’ side in their FA Cup victory over Brighton.

Leicester didn’t quite knock their opponents out of the park, but they got over the line through Kelechi Iheanacho’s late headed winner.
Daley-Campbell played a key role in this goal, getting himself into the box and winning the corner that led to Iheanacho’s winning effort.
The gave him an 8 out of 10 rating, adding: “A fine debut and one that only enhances his chances at more first-team action.
“He was brave defensively, showed confidence in his passing, and dribbled with agility and balance.”
Some Leicester fans were singing his praises too:
Daley-Campbell was top class & rightly won MOTM.
Feel for James Justin who’s knee injury looked nasty, especially with how good he’s been this season.
Well done Iheanacho for staying switched on & finishing with the last kick of the game.
Brighton good but didn’t take chances.

Gutted for James Justin, but already buzzing for when Vontae Daley-Campbell makes the squad for the Euros

Arsenal’s academy work has been superb in recent years, but could Daley-Campbell’s departure be one the Gunners come to regret?
