Spurs were reportedly close to landing Julen Lopetegui, according to Duncan Castles of the .
Tottenham have been without a permanent manager since April, when they sacked Jose Mourinho.
Since then, numerous coaches emerged as potential targets for Spurs.
Tottenham were apparently close to landing Antonio Conte, but talks eventually failed.
Now, Spurs appear to be closing in on Paulo Fonseca, formerly of Roma, Shahtar Donetsk and Roma.

Spurs would’ve landed a good manager – TBR View
Lopetegui is a great manager, as shown by his appointments at the helm of the likes of Porto, Spain and Real Madrid.
He was unlucky with both – his nation sacked him on the eve of the 2018 World Cup in wake of the Bernabeu news.

Since then, the 54-year-old has done well with Sevilla, winning the Europa League in 2020.
It’s a shame that circumstances got in the way, but at least Spurs look to be closing in on a good manager.
Already Tottenham have landed Fabio Paratici, so the future at N17 is looking more positive.
