‘Guy is a machine’, ‘bench Sunday’: Some Aston Villa fans want academy gem involved in final
A number of Aston Villa fans have been praising Louie Barry’s impressive competitive debut for the club’s Under-23s on Tuesday night.
Barry was part of the West Brom academy before making the switch to Barcelona’s famed La Masia setup in July last year.
However, the 16-year-old forward – who comes from a family of Villa supporters – was on the move again in January, joining Villa for a reported £880,000 fee, according to .
Barry has impressed for Villa’s youth side in recent weeks and was given a chance at Under-23 level in the Premier League Cup meeting with Portsmouth’s U23s.
Coming off the bench as a replacement for Dimitri Sea at the start of the second half, Barry set up two goals in the 3-0 victory and was a regular source of ammunition for his teammates.
Needless to say, plenty of Villa Park faithful reckon the club has got their hands on a real gem, and made their feelings known on social media:
