Plenty of West Ham United fans weren’t best pleased with the news that Conor Coventry left late on deadline day.

On the move

Coventry had been one of West Ham’s stars of pre-season and was included on the bench in the early part of the campaign.

Although Coventry didn’t make it on to the pitch, with West Ham having European football on offer, there was a feeling that he could receive game time this term.

First-team football

At Posh Coventry could well feature prominently for Darren Ferguson’s side.

Peterborough’s Jack Taylor has struggled for fitness so far this term, and there are still places up for grabs in the centre of the park at the Championship new boys.

Coventry’s development should at least benefit from playing regularly.

The West Ham academy graduate is yet to gain a great deal of first team experience.

And the temporary move should put him into a better position to make a bigger impact at West Ham next year.

He could now make his Posh debut in two weekends’ time, when they take on Sheffield United.
