Guillem Balague provides update on Leeds’ reported chase of Valencia striker Rodrigo
as Leeds United reportedly chase Valencia striker Rodrigo Moreno ahead of the Premier League’s opener against Liverpool on September 12 – claiming the player wants to join Leeds.
News broke on Thursday evening that Leeds were considering 29-year-old Valencia striker Rodrigo, who has 22 Spain caps to his name and is rated in the region of £30million by the cash-stricken La Liga outfit.
, who claimed as much on his website. On paper, it seems Rodrigo would be ideal for Leeds – given he scored seven but created 11 last season, the ideal Marcelo Bielsa striker.
Now, Spanish football expert Balague gave a further update on Twitter – claiming Rodrigo would jump at the chance to join Leeds if given the opportunity. All signs point towards a potential move to Elland Road.
What a proposition (Valencia's) Rodrigo/Leeds as reported! The player would be more than happy to play for Bielsa and for a club like . Fast, goalscorer, hard worker without the ball, Spanish international. Perfect for Bielsa if original interest is pursued

TBR’s view – A club-record fee, but well worth it
Bielsa is renowned for his faith in Patrick Bamford and to non-Leeds fans, it is inexplicable as to why Bamford gets the nod every week. But Leeds fans understand that it is Bamford’s work rate and creativity that gets him the nod.
His ability to bring others into play, and push defenders back as a last man is crucial. Rodrigo’s 11 assists last season is proof that he is of the same ilk – scoring just seven times in 34 games. At £30m, he would be a club-record signing.
But it is one that would suit Leeds perfectly. If they can get a deal done for Rodrigo, then it is a real coup.
