Guillem Balague names the manager he would recommend to Arsenal in the future

Arsenal shouldn’t be in the market for a manager any time soon with Mikel Arteta settled and thriving at the Emirates Stadium.

There have been some difficult times for Arteta at Arsenal but the Gunners have been exceptional since the start of last season.

Now genuine title challengers, Arsenal continue to grow and improve under Arteta, to the point where they are now top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal fans may have been a little worried earlier this year as Xavi announced that he would be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season.

Arteta is a former Barcelona man and it would make sense for the Catalan giants to offer him a return to the Camp Nou.

Maybe that will come one day, but Arteta is going nowhere right now – and he would be mad to trade Arsenal for Barca right now anyway.

Guillem Balague on Roberto De Zerbi

Arsenal aren’t looking for a manager right now and won’t be any time soon, barring an unbelievable turn of events.

Still, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has suggested that Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi would be ideal for Arsenal in the future.

, Balague was asked to name a manager to replace Xavi at Barcelona.

Balague noted that he doesn’t really know what Barcelona are looking for right now in terms of their philosophy.

If it’s in the usual Barcelona mould, Balague believes that Brighton boss De Zerbi is the man.

Balague also feels that De Zerbi is ideal for Arsenal and Manchester City too, believing that the two clubs view football ‘in the same way’.

“If the goal is the Barça style, a coach must be brought in in this sense. But it is not clear to me what is wanted,” said Balague. “Now, if I have to recommend a coach for Barça, Arsenal or Manchester City, which are three teams that understand football in the same way, I would choose Roberto De Zerbi,” he added.

Mikel Arteta a huge fan of De Zerbi

Arteta just beat De Zerbi’s Brighton 3-0 last weekend, continuing his push for the Premier League title.

The Italian did though hammer Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last season and Arteta is a fan of his work.

last year, stating that it’s a ‘joy to watch’ his style of play.

De Zerbi has continued that work this season and is looking to lock down another top-half finish, possibly even sneaking into Europe again.

Arsenal would be wise to have potential Arteta replacements in mind just as a contingency plan, and we wouldn’t be surprised at all if De Zerbi is on a list of potential successors.
