Balague on Emery: Newcastle edging closer, £5m fee a bargain
Emery is a massive coup from Newcastle. While the lure of Antonio Conte was always going to be somewhat optimistic, Emery is right up there.
His work at Arsenal was initially seen as a poor spell in charge, but in hindsight with Arsenal in transition – he did an excellent job.
At Villarreal, he is doing even better. Emery loves the Europa League and won the competition for a fourth time, the first with Villarreal.
A brilliant record, great experience, good pedigree and working with big-name players – all on his CV. Newcastle are getting a bargain.
