Jordan Jones has , signing a three-year contract. The Northern Ireland star spent time on loan away from Rangers last season. Now, Jones has left Rangers – prompting reaction from James Tavernier and Greg Docherty.
Jones, 26, joined Rangers in the summer of 2019 after signing a pre-contract during his latter months at Kilmarnock. A boyhood Rangers fan, the 12-time Northern Ireland will have been hoping to replicate his 33 goal involvements in 119 Kilmarnock games. But he failed to get game time.
What have Tavernier and Docherty said, as Jones leaves Rangers?
In his two years under Steven Gerrard, Jones only ever played 19 times for Rangers – scoring just one goal. During the second half of last season, he went on loan to Sunderland in League One. In that time, he found the back of the net three times and created four more goals in 21 appearances.
That has seemingly tempted Wigan into landing the winger. The same club that bought Josh Windass from Rangers in 2018, Wigan have chosen to sign the wide man on a permanent basis to bolster their promotion push. James Tavernier and Greg Docherty have given their verdicts on Instagram.
