‘Great quality’: Lucien Favre once drooled over reported Arsenal target who plays ‘many different positions’
Another week, another link with Julian Brandt.
It seems the Gunners can’t escape transfer links with the young German playmaker, who is reportedly a target for the Gunners this summer.
According to , the north London outfit hold a persistent interest in the Borussia Dortmund attacker, however, the economic conditions surrounding the deal have to be right for the deal to occur.
The Germany international has won many admirers during his young fledgling career with former BVB boss Lucien Favre claiming the 25-year-old is extremely versatile across different systems, showing he has ‘great quality’.
He was also on the end of praise from director Michael Zorc, who claimed the ace is a fantastic player, but, can get much better in the future.
When talking about Brandt, Favre said: “Julian Brandt is able to play many different positions in different systems. That shows great quality. Playing in a 4-3-3 is not the same as playing in a 3-4-3, playing on the wings or between the lines. He does this very well. He is performing very well. He has to keep up his development like it is right now.”

TBR View: Brandt could prove a cheaper alternative to other targets
Arsenal’s chase of a playmaker has the club scouting numerous options across Europe.
Martin Odegaard, who joined on loan from Real Madrid during the January window is a target, whilst Emiliano Buendia has emerged as an alternative to the Norwegian ace.
However, both options prove to be extremely difficult options for the Gunners given the conditions surrounding their potential exit.
Odegaard’s stature and performances so far at Arsenal means he is likely to cost over £40m if Mikel Arteta wants to make him a permanent addition. Meanwhile, the Argentine midfielder has just won promotion to the Premier League and has another three years on his current deal and should fetch a fairly high fee.
It leaves the Emirates Stadium giants stumped, however, in Brandt, the side may have an alternative, who posseses bags of ability at a reasonable price.
The midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular starting place with the Westfalenstadion outfit since his move from Bayer Leverkusen two summers ago. It has left question marks over his future with having previously shown optimism over a potential exit.
With other targets prove to be obstacles in the club’s bid to strenghten their squad, Brandt’s situation and ability make him a great alternative.
