‘Great power’: Antonio Conte delighted with Ryan Sessegnon against Norwich

Tottenham saw off Norwich City this afternoon as Antonio Conte continued to see signs of improvement in his squad.

Goals from Lucas Moura, Davinson Sanchez, and Heung-Min Son were enough for Spurs to eventually cruise past Dean Smith’s side in North London. Harry Kane failed to score yet again, though.

However, Kane’s drought aside, there is plenty for Conte to be pleased about. Slowly but surely, things are coming together and there are signs certain players are loving life under him. And one of the players to get a chance today and impress Conte was young wing-back, Ryan Sessegnon.

Sessegnon got his chance after Sergio Reguilon picked up a knock. And Conte, speaking to Football.London, believes Sessegnon has the attributes to do very well this season for Tottenham.

“On one end I was a bit disappointed for Serge with the injury but I spoke with him and we don’t think it’s a bad injury. In the other hand you get an opportunity to see Sessegnon come on,” Conte .

“He played a good game and I’m sure that he can do much better. He has quality as a player that has great power and he’s strong physically. He needs to take confidence, with the atmosphere in the stadium. Sess is a young player but if you’re in a squad like Tottenham’s you deserve to be here and you need to show it.

“Today at the end I’m pleased because I’ve seen him for 75 minutes. He play a good game and he can do better. He is strong technically and physically.”

TBR’s View: Sessegnon to get more chances for Tottenham and rightly so

The former Fulham man might need to be patient. Like today, it took an injury to to Reguilon for ‘Sess’ to get his chance. However, he did well and certainly did his chances of staking a more regular claim no harm.

We all know what a talent Ryan Sessegnon is. Spurs paid more than £20m for him based on what he did at Fulham, so it’s clear his ability is great.

Now, it’s about kicking on and learning under Conte for Sessegnon. If he continues to work hard, then he’ll get chances and can become a key squad player for Spurs.
