‘Great potential’… Johan Lange says 18-year-old midfielder will be a part of Tottenham’s first-team next season
Lucas Bergvall arrived as a very late signing for Tottenham this winter.
The day after the transfer window closed, the teenager was announced as a Spurs player, and he’s set to join the club this summer.
At the age of just 18, Bergvall may be expected to come in at Tottenham and join the U21 team initially, but it appears the youngster will indeed be fast-tracked to the first team.
Speaking on the Tottenham Hotspur YouTube channel, Johan Lange has been reviewing Spurs’ transfer window, and he touched on the signing of Bergvall.
The Sporting Director says that he’s a big fan of Bergvall, and he says that the teenager will indeed be a part of the first-team next season.

Bergvall will be fast-tracked
Lange spoke about the teenager
“Lucas is a very mature player despite just turning 18. He’s a box to box midfielder, very good in possession, made to control the game and a great work rate. He’s mature as a person and he has a very good family and support network around him. He has great potential, he will join in the summer and be a part of the first-team squad,” Lange said.
Exciting
This is very exciting to say the least.
It’s not often you get a player of this age immediately implemented into the side at Tottenham.
The likes of Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr had to spend a whole year out on loan before coming into the side, but Bergvall will seemingly be thrown in at the deep end.
This speaks to how much of a prodigious talent this young man is, and if he can ultimately fulfil his potential, Spurs will seemingly have a very special player on their hands here.
Bergvall is certainly a young talent to get excited about.
