‘People don’t see’: Granit Xhaka says Arsenal have an ‘amazing’ player who is under-appreciated
Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been singing the praises of his teammate, Alexandre Lacazette, after the forward scored for the Gunners at the weekend against Leicester City.
Lacazette has struggled for regular goals but has earned praise in recent weeks for his all-round performances at the top of the pitch. The experienced Frenchman has been key in Arsenal’s resurgent form, with the young players around him benefitting from his knowhow.
But with the goals not flowing, some have still found time to critique that part of his game. But according to his teammate Granit Xhaka, Lacazette is far more important to the entire club than just a few goals.
“In the end, people want him to score. People only see if players score. But people sometimes don’t see how important he is for us, not only on the pitch but as well off the pitch,” Xhaka told the .
“On the pitch, he is an amazing player and he understands the game so good with the quality he has. I hope now after this three, four, five, six weeks they (people) understand how important he is for us.”
TBR’s View: Lacazette Might Yet Get New Arsenal Deal
And what a turnaround that would be everyone. The Frenchman looked for all the world at one point like he was going to leave without much fanfare or care from fans. Now, he is a key player who the club would find hard to replace.
Lacazette probably deserves that new deal too. Of course, the Gunners won’t want to get stung like they have in the past with players. But you get the impression that Lacazette is the right character.
