“There are always rumours at the end of the season, that’s for sure,” . “But I still have a two-year contract in London and I am very happy with my family here. First of all, I’m looking at a successful Euro with the national team.”

TBR View: Arsenal should remain flexible over Xhaka’s future

Xhaka – who cost around £30 million, – is arguably one of the senior players in the Arsenal squad who has performed better this season.

Perhaps his displays have not always been the best. But he has stepped up for Mikel Arteta’s men, proving to be one of their better midfielders and also doing a decent job when called upon at left-back.

Nevertheless, Arsenal cannot afford to completely shut the door on selling Xhaka this summer. His value is only going to drop from here as his contract runs down.

The 28-year-old may also not have too long at his peak. And with Arsenal potentially needing an overhaul of their squad, Arteta may feel that they need to consider all substantial offers that come in.
