Graham Roberts offers thoughts on Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele

Former Tottenham hero Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to back Jamie Carragher’s suggestion that Tanguy Ndombele was poor on Saturday.

The ex-Liverpool defender used a series of statistics to analyse Ndombele’s performance during

He conceded afterwards that by now the man should be doing more to help his team.

Ndombele has struggled to adapt to the Premier League and in the last couple of days, several pundits have jumped in to offer their opinion.

Roberts said he agreed with every word Carragher said but then made a claim that suggested Spurs should stick with the 23-year-old.

Ndombele was expected to shine when he arrived in England during the summer but his Tottenham career is quickly going south.

It will remain to be seen when Mourinho next utilises him after such a damning assessment at the weekend.

Injury problems could mean he features again sooner rather than later but it’s fair to say he must improve quickly.

Roberts is perhaps right though, that he can be brilliant but he just needs to start showing it on a consistent basis.

Ndombele has endured a couple of niggles this season which hasn’t helped his progress.

It will certainly be interesting to see whether Mourinho’s comments will give him the nudge that he needs to get his stuttering Tottenham career going.

Roberts spent six years at Tottenham winning the FA Cup and UEFA Cup and his second reply to Carragher should offer Ndombele a big confidence boost.
