Graham Roberts has advice for Jose Mourinho regarding Tottenham player
Graham Roberts has ordered Jose Mourinho to make a change to his defence and start Toby Alderweireld for “every important game” until the end of the season after another comfortable performance against Wolfsberger on Wednesday night.
Spurs cruised into the last 16 of the competition on Wednesday night with a 4-0 win over the Austrian side, 8-1 on aggregate. Dele Alli took the headlines, scoring once and creating two more. Gareth Bale netted as did Carlos Vinicius twice.
Mourinho has tended to combine Eric Dier with Davinson Sanchez in the Premier League at centre-back, but clearly the combination is not working. Spurs were beaten by West Ham last time out, with Colombian defender Sanchez at fault again.
Ex-Tottenham captain Roberts has urged Mourinho to start £11.5million () signing Alderweireld in all the remaining, important fixtures. That is, after the Belgian helped Spurs keep a clean sheet alongside Dier, in front of Joe Hart.
should be playing every important game for the club until the end of the season

TBR’s view – The stats say it all about Alderweireld
In the Premier League, Spurs have kept just seven clean sheets in 24 league games this season – of which Alderweireld has played just 14 times. Of the 10 he has missed, Spurs have kept just one clean sheet, keeping six in his 14 outings.
That says it all. Spurs keep many more clean sheets with Alderweireld in the team, against Premier League opposition. It is bizarre that he is not used regularly – especially with Sanchez struggling. He must start, as Roberts says.
