Graham Roberts delivers eight-word verdict on new Tottenham star Bryan Gil

Graham Roberts has heaped praise on new Tottenham signing Bryan Gil as Spurs eased past Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday night, winning 3-0.

The entire spotlight was on the return of Harry Kane. Having confirmed, via Twitter, that he will be staying at Spurs, he started up front.

In the absence of Hugo Lloris, the England skipper also captained Spurs. The Spurs no.10 scored two first-half goals, to cancel out Pacos’ lead.

A third came in the second half from Argentine midfielder Gio Lo Celso, scoring from a free-kick. A comfortable win in the end, for Spurs.

But it was 20-year-old Gil that caught the eye, other than Kane. The new signing was excellent, starting on the left of a midfield three.

It was Gil that created Kane’s opener, cutting back for the Spurs striker to open his account for the 21-22 season. He lasted 73 minutes.

A bargain for Spurs, Gil only cost the club £21.6million from Sevilla – with Erik Lamela going the other way. In Spain, he is considered a wonderkid.

What has Roberts said about new Tottenham signing Gil on Twitter?

Certainly, Tottenham fans are beginning to see why and while Gil is yet to make his Premier League bow – Thursday’s showing is proof he is close.

His versatility, too, will make him more of an option. Initially thought of as a winger, his ability to play in a similar role to Dele Alli will excite fans.

Among those fans, Tottenham legend Graham Roberts was impressed with Gil. He posted am eight-word on the youngster’s display.
