Graham Roberts has applauded Rangers and Steven Gerrard for an impressive season in which the Gers have taken steps closer to dethroning Old Firm rivals Celtic – and Roberts also applauded 21-year-old Ross McCrorie.
Gerrard has impressed as manager in his first season. Reinstating class and respect at the club, he took them to the Europa League group stages, while the Gers have five more points than they did last season – with two games left.
They have already confirmed their second-place finish, which is also an improvement after finishing third in both 2016-17 and 2017-18. Another big summer is expected in terms of recruitment.
Roberts, who spent two years at Ibrox between 1986 and 1988, congratulated Rangers and Gerrard on Twitter as well as McCrorie – after the midfielder went in goal for the final minutes of Sunday’s 1-0 win over Hibernian.

TBR’s view
Rangers have improved greatly, and showed they can now compete with Celtic. But there is still plenty of work to be done and it remains to be seen if Celtic can achieve 10 in a row.
Gerrard has made Rangers fans feel proud of their club, again. Indeed, he masterminded Rangers’ 1-0 win over Celtic. It was the first time since Rangers returned to the top flight that they had beaten Celtic.
A big summer that includes a new centre-back, left-back and a couple of big-name signings will push the Gers even closer next term.
