Graham Roberts and Ryan Mason back 30-year-old with Tottenham potentially keen

Graham Roberts and Ryan Mason have both leapt to the defence of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, after Zinedine Zidane stated the Spanish side are desperate to sell the Tottenham favourite this summer.

Bale, 30, has clocked up 102 goals in 231 league and cup appearances for Real as well as laying on 65 assists. But with the signing Eden Hazard and others, it appears Bale could be set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

: “We hope he leaves soon”, while Bale’s agent Jonathon Barnett has reacted angrily to the French manager’s comments, “Zidane is a disgrace.”

Mauricio Pochettino has refused to rule out a move for Bale, he does not know if Spurs are interested in bringing him back to north London. Spurs icons Mason and Roberts gave their verdict on Twitter.

TBR’s view – Bale unfairly treated, Tottenham will show him love

Zidane’s return to the Real hotseat was never going to end well for the Welsh star. During Zidane’s first spell as manager, Bale found himself warming the bench for the first time following his move to Spain.

Now, the Frenchman’s return has seen Bale fall down the pecking order once again. Said to be earning wages in the region of £600,000, even Real will want to get him off their wage bill despite their vest riches.

Back at Spurs, Bale will be loved and adored by Spurs fans – especially is he can push Pochettino’s side towards the top of the Premier League and reach the final of the Champions League again.
