Graeme Souness makes exciting prediction about Leeds United player after Saturday victory

Graeme Souness has made an exciting prediction on Sky Sports – – when discussing new Leeds United hero Raphinha after the Brazilian scored his first goal for the club to beat Everton 1-0 on Saturday.

Raphinha, 23, was handed just his second Leeds start since joining the Whites on deadline day from French club Rennes. He took advantage, scoring the winner in an enthralling clash against Everton at Goodison Park, during Saturday’s encounter.

Picking the ball up after a neat pass from Jack Harrison, Raphinha setted himself before crushing a left-footed strike into the far corner – through the legs of Everton defender Ben Godfrey and out of the reach of Jordan Pickford.

Leeds had numerous chances against Everton, with Pickford making a number of saves to keep the Whites at bay. After the match, Souness gave his verdict on Raphinha – and made an exciting prediction on his spell at Elland Road.

“He’s a flair player but works his socks off,” Souness said on Sky Sports – “There’s lots to like about him because apart from having ability he works really hard. I don’t think Bielsa would entertain it any other way.

“I like him. We talk about players coming to our football, players like him, flair players, where they need a bit of time to settle into our game. He looks to have got it right away so I think he will be a really good signing for Leeds.”

TBR’s view – Raphinha gives Leeds some top-tier quality

Having gained promotion, the Whites brought in Diego Llorente and Robin Koch to strengthen their defence and Spain striker Rodrigo. But the latter has struggled with fitness since joining, and that has left Leeds with the same attack as last season.

So, bringing in Raphinha with minutes to spare on deadline day was crucial. Not only does he provide pace, skill and flair – as Souness says – but the Brazilian gives that added bit of quality that hands the Whites with some top-tier attacking prowess.

At just £17million, and still only 23, Raphinha has a huge future and his value is only going to rocket. A great bit of business by the impressive Victor Orta, who continues to shine in his role as Leeds sporting director.
