that he believes Celtic need to appoint Roy Keane as Neil Lennon’s permanent replacement, despite Eddie Howe being linked with the vacant role.
Keane has made a name for himself as a pundit on Sky Sports – but last managed a decade ago, leaving Ipswich Town in 2011. He has since boasted assistant manager roles at Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and the Republic of Ireland.
The Manchester United legend, 49, who played 13 times for Celtic before he hung up his boots, was strongly linked with a move to Celtic in March but the clear favourite now looks to be ex-Bournemouth boss Howe.
Caretaker manager John Kennedy also looks to be an option if he continues to do well as interim boss, but Rangers icon Souness has urged his old club’s bitter rivals to go in for Keane – stating he is “desperate” to manage again.

“Roy is desperate to get back,”. “He’s a football man and I have spoken with him about returning to management. He is very keen to do that. Can you imagine how good it will be if it is Keane vs Gerrard in Glasgow.
“All of a sudden, it wouldn’t just be Scotland, Ireland and a wee bit of England talking about Scottish football. The world would be talking about it. It would be a great thing for Scottish football.”
TBR’s view – Keane would be a sensational Celtic appointment
Regardless of how long he has had out of the game. Keane, who knows what it means to play for Celtic and has the winning mentality of playing for a side that are expected to win every game, is ready-made for the Celtic job.
Not only because the Celtic players would immediately buy into his way of playing, but also because players would be tempted to join Celtic to work under Keane. He would be everything they need, but Howe remains first choice.
