Graeme Souness discusses Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli, after win over Leeds
Graeme Souness – that Arsenal have a player that is “really hard to find” in Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian scored a brace for Arsenal in a 4-1 win over Leeds on Saturday.
Martinelli, 20, has been in incredible form of late – netting three goals in his last two games. All four of his Premier League goals this season have come in the last six league outings, as have two assists.
The Gunners sparkled on Saturday, against a depleted Leeds side. Continuing to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Martinelli got a brace as Arsenal continued their excellent form of late – winning their last three games.
Ahead of the game, Sky Sports pundit Souness was full of praise for the £90,000-a-week () attacker. He said players like Martinelli are incredibly difficult to find, and predicts him to score bags of goals.

“I like him, when I’ve seen him play, he looks lively,” Souness said. “He’s dangerous, he’s quick, enthusiastic, he’s going to get goals. A young man, who will be a star in our football. Goalscorers like him are really hard to find.”
Souness on Martinelli: Edu deserves enormous praise for Arsenal signing
Signed from Brazilian minnows Ituano for a bargain fee of just £6million, Martinelli has proven to be a real transfer masterstroke. Sporting director Edu’s finest piece of work as Arsenal’s transfer chief, arguably.
Already, Martinelli will be worth miles above the fee Arsenal paid Ituano for him. 16 goals and nine assists in 62 appearances, but even more so when almost half – 29 – have come from the bench. He could be a superstar.
