Graeme Souness believes Oxlade-Chamberlain is exactly what Klopp is looking for
Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness reckons Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can be the man to instill some creativity into the Reds’ midfield.
The England international was on the bench against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, despite scoring twice against Genk.
There was some clamour for the 26-year-old to start against the north Londoners, but Jurgen Klopp went with his trusted ‘workhorse’ midfield of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum.

Chamberlain remained an unused substitute on Sunday, and Sky Sports pundit Souness believes the German will be looking to his creativity in future games.
He said (): “I think the manager is fully aware of it [lack of midfield creativity]. They signed Oxlade-Chamberlain, if he can keep himself fit I’d like to think he’ll be exactly what they’re looking for, Keita, I’m not sure what you get with him.
“I think he realises he wants a different type of midfield in certain games but it’s very hard to be critical of those three that are playing today because I don’t think anyone enjoys playing against them.”
TBR’s view – Oxlade-Chamberlain a brilliant alternative
Oxlade-Chamberlain is a quality alternative option for Klopp.

He’s a player who has the potential to make things happen in the final third – an individual who can link midfield and attack together.
Liverpool’s front three haven’t actually hit top gear yet despite the team’s brilliant start to 2019/20, but Oxlade-Chamberlain can get them firing with his progressive passing and bursts forward.
