Graeme Jones lauds Tottenham loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers

Graeme Jones that Graham Potter was full of praise for Tottenham Hotspur’s Cameron Carter-Vickers before he moved to Kenilworth Road on loan.

Carter-Vickers has joined the fifth Championship club of his career, with the Hatters confirming on their official website that they have signed the defender on loan for the rest of the season.

The America international will be hoping to prove a point during his time at Luton. He seemed to struggle during the first-half of the season, which he spent at Stoke City.

He initially joined the Potters for the campaign. But his loan was cut short, that he failed to impress Michael O’Neill.

But Jones’s comments following the Spurs man’s move suggest that he is confident that Carter-Vickers will bounce back as he explained how he confided in a Premier League boss who knows him well.

“I’m delighted with the signing of Cameron. He’s played 76 games in the Championship, he’s had four loans and I’m so pleased to get him,” .

“He’s a local lad who lives in Essex and we were really close to getting him in the summer. He can play anywhere across the back four, with centre-half being his preferred position.

“Graham Potter is one of my best friends and I spoke to him about Cameron, having had him on loan at Swansea last season. He said the character he’s got is incredible, so I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Carter-Vickers will need all of that character if he is hoping to catch the eye of his parent club. It would be little surprise if most Spurs fans did not expect the 22-year-old to play for the side again.

The youngster made his most recent appearance for Tottenham in the 2016/17 season.

And it is going to be incredibly difficult to impress Jose Mourinho while battling at the wrong end of the Championship.
