Gotts, Bate and Drameh laud Joe Gelhardt on Instagram after Leeds loss

Lewis Bate and Robbie Gotts were amongst those to laud Joe Gelhardt on Instagram, while Cody Drameh summed up how a lot of Leeds United supporters probably felt as he made his Premier League debut on Saturday.

Gelhardt provided one of the few highlights from a Leeds perspective at St Mary’s. The forward featured in the top flight for the first time, coming on for the final 13 minutes.

Unfortunately, the change did not have the impact Marcelo Bielsa may have hoped for.

The 19-year-old showed some nice touches. And when he had possession, he looked a lot more composed than a lot of his teammates had done.

However, he also came up against an inspired Mohammed Salisu on the south coast. The centre-back produced a colossal display for the home side.

With Patrick Bamford currently sidelined, the door does appear to be open for Gelhardt to potentially feature a lot more in the weeks ahead.

Rodrigo had a torrid time against Southampton. Tyler Roberts hardly fared any better when he was pushed up front.

So it will be interesting to see how Bielsa uses Gelhardt in the weeks ahead. Certainly, plenty of Leeds players past and present hope to see him feature more often.

Gelhardt took to Instagram following his Premier League debut. And unsurprisingly, there were a raft of replies.

Drameh probably hit the nail on the head for many with his one-word response to the forward’s post, while Leif Davis also sent a message that will resonate with plenty of fans…
