‘Got to be’: Some Villa fans think Smith has a plan after transfer of £30k-a-week midfielder
Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane has left the club to join Sheffield United on loan for the season.
The Premier League club that the Republic of Ireland international had completed a switch to the Blades for the 2021/22 Championship campaign.
Hourihane spent half of last season with Swansea City on loan and was impressive for the Welsh side. However, Dean Smith has no plans for the 30-year-old midfielder in the Villa squad.

With Hourihane earning £30,000-a-week , the midfielder is earning a fairly hefty wage at Villa compared to other players in the squad.
And a move to Sheffield appears to be the right move for all parties. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side have made a terrible start to the Championship season. The Steel City club have claimed just two points in their first five games.
Indeed, Hourihane will be a welcome addition for Sheffield. Yet for Villa fans on social media, they believe the news means that a new central midfielder could be signed before the window shuts.

The summer market closes in under 36 hours time. And Villa fans are eager for Smith to sign a new midfielder if Hourihane is to depart for Bramall Lane for the season.
Here’s what some VIlla fans had to say about Hourihane leaving for Sheffield United on loan on Twitter…
