Gordon Strachan says Celtic have a top player in their ranks who has ‘something different about him’
Celtic midfielder David Turnbull has been praised by Gordon Strachan, who believes the Hoops ace has “something different about him”.
The 21-year-old has had to bide his time for regular starts at Parkhead following his move from Motherwell in the early stages of the season.
However, he’s now featuring regularly for Celtic and has been one of the few positives in a poor season for the dethroned champions.
Turnbull has made 34 appearances in all competitions this season – including 25 Premiership starts – and has registered nine goals and seven assists.
According to Whoscored – via the – he is Europe’s third best player in key passes at present, behind only Ajax’s Dusan Tadic and OH Leuven’s Xavier Mercier.
And former Celtic boss Strachan has been impressed with Turnbull’s quality and efforts so far, though he’s not too surprised as he’s done well for a number of years now.
“Turnbull especially has got something different about him at the moment,” he told .
“He can do something that when I watch a game, I can easily see something coming, but Turnbull can bring in something that I go, ‘I like that. Where did that come from?’
“But in the same way I kind of expect it after watching him for a few years.”

Turnbull has been superb for Celtic this season and, given how poor the Hoops have been, it’s good to see a player that suggests a bright future for the club going forward.
Tomorrow will be a big test for him, with Hoops fans hoping he can help the team defeat Rangers in the Scottish Cup – their last chance of silverware this season.
