Gold suggests Mikey Moore is happy at Tottenham amid exit links
Alasdair Gold that 15-year-old prospect Mikey Moore is understood to be happy at Tottenham Hotspur amid links with interest from other clubs.
Moore is one of the extremely talented youngsters to keep an eye on at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. As noted by , there is a lot of excitement surrounding the teenager.
He has been in superb form for Spurs’ under-18s this season. Moore has scored twice and contributed four assists in seven games in the under-18 Premier League.
Mikey Moore understood to be happy at Tottenham
Obviously, it is likely to be some time before he potentially pushes himself on Antonio Conte’s radar. But it would appear that Spurs may be facing a battle to keep the young forward.
Gold noted that there has been speculation that he could be wanted elsewhere. However, the journalist suggested that he is under the impression that Moore would be content to stay at Hotspur Way.
“Young Mikey Moore, I don’t want to big him up too much because I think he’s 15, but he’s playing very much above his age group. He’s been linked with other clubs,” .
“From what I understand, I think he is supposed to be happy at Spurs. But again, we’re talking about a 15-year-old. I really don’t want to go that way and hype up these players because a 15-year-old becoming a star is such a long way still to go.”
Spurs’ challenge is to present striker with the pathway
One problem Tottenham have had down the years is finding a striker to provide cover and competition for Harry Kane. They have needed someone good enough to back him up. But that player also needs to be willing to join when they are unlikely to ever be first-choice.
Signing Richarlison appeared to be a smart move in that sense. He can play up front. But that is not the only string on his bow. So Kane’s availability is not the be all and end all for the Brazilian.
Having said that, someone like Moore – who was born the day Michael Chopra scored the only goal as Spurs lost to Sunderland in the opening game of the season in 2007 – is one for the future.
As Gold suggests, Tottenham will not be getting carried away. But if everything did go perfectly to plan, he would probably be setting his sights on a regular first-team spot at a time when Kane’s minutes would be being managed.
The challenge, for both Spurs and Moore, is to try and make that pathway as straightforward as realistically possible.
