Gold can’t believe Tottenham are yet to seal naming rights deal on stadium

Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has told Reddit that Tottenham Hotspur are still not close to agreeing a deal for the naming rights on the stadium.

Spurs fans must have assumed that selling the naming rights on the stadium would be something of a formality. Tottenham boast one of the world’s best facilities.

Even former Arsenal player Emi Martinez described the New White Hart Lane as his favourite away stadium in the Premier League.

It has now been open for three years. And it has not only hosted Tottenham. The NFL have visited, while Anthony Joshua fought Kubrat Pulev for the heavyweight title inside the stadium in 2020.

Nevertheless, the ground remains known as Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with sponsorship still yet to be sourced. And interestingly, Gold suggested that that situation is unlikely to change anytime soon – something that he is almost stunned by.

“I’m told Spurs are constantly having discussions with different interested parties but nothing is close,” .

“I can’t believe they haven’t been able to get a great deal for that incredible stadium. I can only presume they’re waiting until the post-pandemic era kicks in and money is more readily available for companies.”

Tottenham missing out with stadium naming rights still up for grabs

that Tottenham are looking for a deal worth around £500 million over 20 years. That would net the club around £25 million a season.

Obviously, that would not necessarily all find its way into the club’s transfer budget. But clearly, it would be a real boost.

It is baffling that they have not found an agreement. There will have been significant interest. The stadium is simply too good not to attract offers.

Daniel Levy may want to dig his heels in. He has his asking price and may not accept anything less. And ultimately, that strategy may pay off.

But it does appear that Tottenham are missing a trick right now.

They have an absolutely vital summer ahead. Keeping Antonio Conte and Harry Kane appears a must. And displaying their ambition could be crucial to that.

Having those additional funds would certainly help.
