‘Going the other way?’: Some Rangers fans want 29-year-old who’s ‘at least 10 points difference’

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have taken to Twitter urging Steven Gerrard to bring Vaclav Hladky to Ibrox.

On Monday, former Light Blues goalkeeper Jak Alnwick agreed a two-year deal with St Mirren, the club Hladky has just left.

Hladky was heavily linked with Ibrox during the January transfer window and again .

Hladky was in brilliant form for St Mirren last season, making 38 appearances and keeping .

However, the Czech stopper has now left the Buddies after his contract expired, and earlier this month he told the of how he loves living in Glasgow.

Speaking about Hladky, Alex Rae told the in March: “For me he’s at least 10 points of a difference because he is one of the stand-out goalkeepers in the division.”

Mirren goalkeeping coach Jamie Langfield also praised Hladky with a heartfelt message to him on in wake of his exit.

“You’ll be missed buddie,” he wrote. “One of the nicest persons I’ve ever met in football, also the BEST goalkeeper I’ve ever worked with in my whole career.”

With Alnwick now at St Mirren, some Rangers fans hope their former keeper effectively swaps places with the former Light Blues man at Ibrox (via their respective free transfers).
