Glenn Hoddle praises what Pedro Neto did in the tunnel before Wolves vs Chelsea
Wolves and Chelsea locked horns at Molineux last time out in the Premier League, which ended up being a 6-2 rout for Enzo Maresca’s men.
There was one topic on the minds of both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea fans ahead of kick-off, and that was Pedro Neto after his move to Stamford Bridge.
He was forced to settle for a place on the substitutesbench as Mykhailo Mudryk was given the nod by Enzo Maresca, and that turned out to be an error as the Portuguese winger came on at half-time.
And, to be fair to him, he enjoyed a respectable return to Molineux, laying on an assist for Chelsea’s sixth goal as Joao Felix rounded things off.
But, it was what he did off the pitch before kick-off that really pleased one pundit in particular/p>
Glenn Hoddle loves what Pedro Neto did with Jose Sa before Wolves vs Chelsea
Pedro Neto clearly hasn’t lost any love for his former teammate Jose Sa, as the pair were seen embracing in the tunnel prior to kick-off.
Glenn Hoddle particularly enjoyed the greeting between the pair, though he didn’t actually seem to know who Jose Sa was.
“That’s nice to see. You don’t always get that. That’s an old teammate or one of the staff I would imagine./p>
It was a contrast of emotions for Sa after the game though, as he let in six goals, of which at least two of them he perhaps could have done better with.
However, he can’t be to blame for the second Chelsea goal as Cole Palmer’s striker arguably shouldn’t have counted, as Robert Sanchez still had the ball moving when he took the goal-kick.
Who could Wolves replace Pedro Neto with?
Pedro Neto’s departure has left a huge void to fill at Molineux. The 24-year-old scored an impressive three goals and assisted 11 last season as the main creative spark for Gary O’Neil’s side.
Wolves were well positioned to sign Carlos Borges but that appears to have quietened down, with Matt Hobbs instead opting to move for Burnley’s Luca Koleosho before the window closes.
Neither player is likely to replicate what Neto achieved during his time at Wolves right away, but it’s clear that they’ve got a certain plan to target younger players.
