Glenn Hoddle makes exciting West Ham prediction when asked where they will finish
Glenn Hoddle has responded when asked during a where West Ham United could finish in the Premier League this season – ahead of Monday night’s clash against Aston Villa.
West Ham have impressed of late under David Moyes following a tricky start to life that saw them initially suffer a disappointing loss to Newcastle United. Following two losses in their first two games, they have since lost one of their next seven.
That one league defeat came in the form of a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, while also picking up wins over Wolves, Leicester, Fulham and Sheffield United in that period. The Hammers also drew with league leaders Tottenham, and Pep Guardiola’s Man City.
A good run of form, then. A win against Aston Villa on Monday night could see Moyes’ men climb as high as fifth place in the Premier League – and Hoddle has delivered an exciting prediction on where they could finish this season.
“I don’t think they will have that relegation fight they had last year,” “David has got this back five working well and he is not looking to change the team. Michail Antonio has been outstanding, Sebastien Haller has come in and down his bit.
“There is continuity there and there is a belief about West Ham. I can see them finishing in the top 10, without any shadow of a doubt. Maybe even sixth or seventh the way they have been going. I really think David is doing a good job at the moment.”
TBR’s view – Could a European spot, as Hoddle says, be realistic?
The Hammers have shown, especially when Michail Antonio is playing, that they are good enough to beat anyone in front of them. They boast a threat in front of goal, especially from set-pieces, and Tomas Soucek has been a great buy.
Indeed, Moyes has recruited well. Said Benrahma is a real coup and while he may take some time to get going, he is likely to eventually replace Pablo Fornals. Jarrod Bowen, Vladimir Coufal and others have been excellent additions.
The depth is an issue, especially in midfield and at centre-back. But if Moyes can keep his starting XI fit, there is no reason why they cannot challenge for the top half and potentially sixth or seventh.
