Glenn Hoddle makes exciting prediction about £75k-a-week Southampton ace

Glenn Hoddle has tipped Southampton striker Danny Ings to go on another scoring run following his display in Thursday night’s FA Cup fifth-round victory.

The 28-year-old opened the scoring for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side en route to a 2-0 win over Wolves at Molineux, which put the Saints into the quarter-finals of the competition.

John Ruddy saved Ings’ initial effort before the ball rebounded off the striker’s knee and into the net, breaking the deadlock in the 49th minute.

Southampton kept Wolves firmly at bay and made sure of victory in the 90th minute when Adam Armstrong guided a right-footed shot in off the far post.

Ings now has eight goals for Saints this season and, more importantly, has ended a goalscoring drought which stretched back to 4 January, when he scored the winner against Liverpool.

And now Hoddle feels the ace will start scoring regularly once again.

“It just shows you, you get that little bit of luck that every forward needs,” the former Saints boss told BT Sport, via .

“He will go on another run now, no doubt, because he is a good forward. He’ll be smiling on the way back to Southampton now.

“Southampton deserved the win, they took the game to Wolves and they got their just rewards tonight.”

TBR View:

Ings is a high-calibre player who has been great for Southampton this season, and a mid-season blip, particularly in one as intense as this one, is to be expected.

The Saints might be on a poor run of form in the league but their FA Cup fifth-round victory will no doubt provide them with a big boost which bodes well for the coming weeks.
