Glenn Hoddle heaps praise on Fulham star Joe Bryan for play-off final goal
Glenn Hoddle has compared Joe Bryan’s magical free-kick for Fulham in the Championship play-off final against Brentford as something expected of Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne – as the Cottagers won 2-1.
In what was a close encounter, the tense clash entered extra time at Wembley with neither side able to create a golden chance worthy of finding the back of the net. That was until Bryan lined up a free-kick from 35 yards.
The position of the free-kick suggested that the former Bristol City star would swing a free-kick into the box as a cross, but Bryan caught everyone unaware – including Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.
His stinging, curling shot flew past Raya. A despairing dive from the Bees goalkeeper failed to prevent the effort from finding the back of the net, though the former Blackburn stopper will hardly want to see replays.
Is this the goal that sends back to the Premier League?

Bryan made it 2-0 in the second half of extra-time, as he broke forward and played an excellent one-two with ex-Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic before finishing like an experienced striker past Raya.
A late goal from Henrik Dalsgaard was not enough to prevent Fulham from returning to the Premier League, and Hoddle compared the left-footer’s free-kick to something you would expect from De Bruyne.
Love that goal from BRYAN , fantastic disguise, De Bruyne like .🙌🙌😎.
