Glenn Hoddle claims Mauricio Pochettino has Tottenham dilemma

Glenn Hoddle believes that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has a selection dilemma ahead of him after his team’s Champions League success on Wednesday night.

Spurs recorded an emphatic 4-0 away victory in Serbia against Red Star Belgrade and it should give the squad a big lift.

Giovani Lo Celso, Heung-Min Son (two) and Christian Eriksen were all on the scoresheet for the Premier League side in the European win.

Hoddle feels that there is perhaps an argument too suggest that Pochettino sticks with the same starting XI moving forward and they host Sheffield United in the league at the weekend.

It was an eye-catching display by the team, but the bench included the likes of Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld, Lucas Moura and Ben Davies.

“It was a very professional performance. With the ball they looked like they had a really good shape. My interest would be does he stick with this XI?”

“Does he stay with this and say we’ll bed this down for two or three games? I think that is something Pochettino will really think hard for the weekend’s game.”

TBR’s View:

The Spurs XI that started against Red Star can be pleased with their efforts, but the strength of the opposition should put the win into context and it doesn’t fix all their problems.

Pochettino’s side are 11th in the league table after a poor domestic start and there is a lot of work to do to get them back on track.

It might be a stretch too far to stick with the same starting team against Sheffield United, but it’s clear that Lo Celso should now be in the XI on a regular basis.

Spurs need to move forward with summer additions Tanugy Ndombele and Lo Celso at the heart of their fresh look.
