‘Giving it large’: Jim White shares what he has heard from Newcastle training
on Thursday morning the he has heard what Newcastle United players have been doing in training, after the takeover.
The Saudi Arabia-backed consortium are yet to make a decision on the future of Steve Bruce – and have not told fans what to expect in January.
This, just days before Newcastle take on Tottenham on Sunday at St. James’ Park. The players and staff do not know who will be in charge for the game.
However, that has not stopped training. While players are enjoying a break on Thursday, White has heard news from the training ground.

The TalkSPORT presenter told listening fans on Thursday morning that he has been told how the players have responded – to the takeover, in training.
“What I have heard, is that this week in the training sessions – and they will have expected nothing short of this – that there was a terrific level of commitment from the Newcastle players.
“They were back and they were giving it ‘select me on Sunday’. They were giving it large,”
White on Newcastle: Could takeover encourage spring in players step?

Without a doubt. While it may not directly affect the players, those who have Newcastle in their heart will be delighted that Mike Ashley is gone.
Not only that, but the fanbase is jubilant to see the back of Ashley. While there are still doubts over the future, fans will be buzzing on Sunday.
Coming up against a stuttering Tottenham side, that are yet to get going under Nuno Espirito Santo, a win would send fans into meltdown.
Not only that, but a first goal to put Newcastle ahead will go down incredibly well. Could the takeover help the current squad? Definitely.
