Gini Wijnaldum opens up about Jurgen Klopp and says players ‘adore’ Liverpool boss
Liverpool midfielder, Gini Wijnaldum, has gone into detail to explain just how much Jurgen Klopp means to this current group of Reds stars.
Klopp has been a revelation since taking over at Anfield in 2015. The German is on course to deliver the first Premier League title to the Reds and led them to the Champions League last season.
During his time with Liverpool, Klopp has overseen a number of improvements. Those have come in the form of the team set-up, incoming transfers, and the development of members of the squad already there.
One of those players to improve under Klopp has been Dutch midfielder, Gini Wijnaldum. And the 29-year-old has conceded it’s Klopp’s way of management that gets the best out of the squad.
“My development since I came to Liverpool has been good. I have become more of an all-round player,” Wijnaldum said.
“I am a more complete player now than I was when I arrived. When I spoke with Klopp, he saw me in a more defensive role, where I needed to be an all-rounder.”
Wijnaldum has played a key role this season for the Reds. He’s played in 28 Premier League games, contributing three goals along the way. The versatility he mentions above, then, has proved crucial for him in being able to help the team.
Personal touch
The Dutch midfielder admits that Klopp has a way about him when dealing with players. Indeed, Wijnaldum elaborated further on this, admitting that the German knows things about him other coaches don’t.
“The players adore him, of course, because he cares about the players and he is a good coach, a coach who improves his players and he is a great person to work with,” he .
“He knows a lot of things about me that other coaches don’t know. We have a really good player-coach relationship, as well as on a personal level. He is an important person to me in general.”

It’s clear from just sitting back and watching that Klopp has a massive influence on his Liverpool team. They are united as one, on and off the field, and it shows.
Klopp clearly sees the human side of being a football manager as being important. It’s little surprise, then, to see his Liverpool players repay that with exceptional performances.
