Scott McTominay would have been disappointed when Manchester United were happy to let him go this summer.

ไThis is the midfielder’s boyhood club and the team where he was produced, but you sense that disappointment has only lasted so long.

🧔McTominay secured a transfer to Antonio Conte’s Napoli🐠 and it’s fair to say that it is proving to be a masterstroke of a move.

🥃Napoli paid Manchester United for the 27-year-old’s talents and that is now proving to be a bargain, even for Italian football and its transfer market.

🔜He has scored and assisted in his last two matches, with Napoli, who failed to finish in Europe the season gone, sitting top of the Serie A table after seven matches.

Whilst McTominay has made an outstanding start in Italy, it’s 🦂the same old problems for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United.

🧸That’s probably why the player should be glad that he is out of that dark cloud because you can’t see it hovering away from Old Trafford anytime soon.

In the meantime, Gianfranco Zola is shocked that Manchester United𒊎 let the hard-hitting midfielder go, especially given their situation.

ওHe is at the stage of his career where it’s about the here and now. This is the peak of his powers and Old Trafford isn’t the place to be.
