BILD journalist Christian Falk revealed about a week ago that Newcastle United and Everton are both interested in signing Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller.

The Magpies have been linked with a number of high-profile players since their takeover, while Everton, now under Frank Lampard, are looking to be really ambitious as well.

Muller is a legend at Bayern and for Germany. He has been incredible for club and country over the last decade, but he has entered the final 18 months of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

That has given rise to rumours and Falk has now claimed that the two Premier League clubs think they stand a chance of signing him.

Christian Falk: Newcastle and Everton are getting their hopes up about Thomas Muller

Muller’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2023 and Bayern are planning talks with him in the coming weeks. However, multiple other clubs are keeping a close eye on him as well, including Newcastle and Everton, according to Falk.

The German journalist said on the : “The contract situation with Thomas (Muller) will probably be with us for the next few days, probably weeks.

“You read it, I reported it; Everton and Newcastle are already getting their hopes up.

“I don’t think that’s going to happen, but of course, other clubs are now paying attention to Thomas, so Bayern should get a move on.”

A proven winner

Falk doesn’t think Muller will join either Newcastle or Everton and neither do we.

However, many felt the same when Newcastle were first linked with Bruno Guimaraes last month and when reports said Everton would appoint Carlo Ancelotti and then sign James Rodriguez. All those things happened.

If one of the two Premier League sides can somehow manage to sign a player of Muller’s quality, it would make a massive statement. He would bring in a winner’s mentality that both clubs have been crying out for.

The 32-year-old has won everything in the game. He has got his hands on a staggering total of – 10 Bundesliga titles, seven German Super Cups, six German Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, two Club World Cups, two Champions League trophies and the biggest trophy of them all, the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
