Getting Kamara in this month could give Rangers crucial edge in tight title race

Rangers are pushing hard to bring Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara to bring forward his Ibrox arrival,

Kamara’s contract runs out at the end of the season, which has allowed Rangers to sign a deal to bring him to the club at that stage – but Steven Gerrard wants him through the door this month.

There is an acceptance that if Kamara has agreed to leave then he would rather be at Rangers as soon as possible and the Gers are hoping to capitalise on that desire and continue an impressive January window.

Gerrard has eyed up the match against Kilmarnock on January 23rd as the one in which he wants Kamara to make his debut in blue – which would be a major boost to the club’s title hopes.

As a former midfielder himself, Gerrard is well-placed to judge his side’s current options in the engine room and the truth is, since the form of Lassana Koulibaly tailed off, they’re not good enough.

Getting Steven Davis through the door is a big help on that score and Kamara would add energy to go with the Northern Irishman’s guile.

Kamara would offer increased squad depth and energy; on top of that, his desire to move early and join a title push would make him an instant hit with the fans who have admired him from afar in the past.
