‘Getting close’: David Moyes says ‘excellent’ West Ham United player will be back in training this week
David Moyes has told that West Ham United winger Maxwel Cornet will be back in training this week.
The Scotsman was speaking ahead of West Ham’s trip to Anfield tomorrow night and provided an injury update on his squad.
The ‘excellent’ Cornet has been ruled out of the Hammers’ last two Premier League games after picking up an injury against Wolves earlier this month.
The 26-year-old only signed for the East London club over the summer as he made the switch from Burnley. But he’s looked bright during the nine games he’s played so far, registering five assists in the Europa Conference League.

Moyes says Cornet back in training this week
, Moyes shared that Cornet is expected to be back in training this week after suffering a calf strain.
“Maxi [Cornet] has had a little bit of a calf strain, he’s getting close,” he said.
“He’s probably going to start training this week but he’s not ready yet, no.”
Cornet is yet to get going under Moyes but has put in some promising displays from the bench.
Moyes will be hoping the winger’s recovery goes to plan to provide him with an additional option out wide.
The Ivory Coast international was a standout performer for Burnley last season, despite being relegated from the Premier League. The winger could become a key player for the Hammers, given Moyes’ lack of options out wide.

Pablo Fornals has often had to play a make-shift role on the left-hand side but his qualities seem better suited to playing through the middle.
The Hammers picked up a draw on the south coast on Sunday after a Declan Rice screamer in the second-half.
It’s been an underwhelming start to the season for Moyes but his side have picked up some more positive results in recent weeks. The Scotsman will be hoping to have a full squad available soon as he looks to bed in new signings like Cornet.
