‘Get your finger oot’: Everton star goes viral with fearsome motivational video for schoolboy

If the whole Everton assistant manager gig doesn’t work out for Duncan Ferguson, he could easily land a gig in the world of motivational speaking.

In a video that went viral on Monday night, the Scotsman proved he had lost none of the fearsome edge that so unnerved opponents during his playing days.

brother apparently needed an extra bit of motivation with his schoolwork, and Ferguson was willing to deliver the message.

The 49-year-old filmed himself on the pitch at Goodison Park, and said: “Hi young Tom, you alright son? It’s Duncan Ferguson here, from Everton Football Club.

“I just wanted to wish you all the best pal. Your teacher, auld Tom, has told me you’ve been f***ing slacking off a wee bit in your photography, is that right?

“Cannae be having that mate. You better get your finger oot alright, and make sure that you get they f***ing results.”

Ferguson then made the youngster a promise, which given his tone and reputation almost sounded like a threat.

He said: “And if you get the results right and you stick in, I’ll come and see ye, alright. I’ll take ye for a bit of lunch or I’ll come to yer house or something eh. We’ll sit doon and have a wee chat.

“Is that alright mate? So you make sure you stick in eh, and don’t f*** the job up.”

He then proceeded to turn the camera round and give his young supporter a view of Goodison, saying: “Anyway look, here’s Goodison for ye. What do ye think of that?

“Hopefully you’ll be back soon lad, eh. Awright mate, stick in son.

“God bless fae Big Dunc, take care.”

Ferguson scored 72 goals in 273 appearances across two spells at Everton, during a playing career that also saw him turn out for Dundee United, Rangers and Newcastle.

We await confirmation as to whether young Tom has knuckled down at school or been moved to a safe location.
