Germany’s media says £40m Tottenham player was ‘spectacular’ against Eintracht Frankfurt

Tottenham Hotspur held Eintracht Frankfurt to a 1-1 draw in their Europa League quarter-final first leg in North London on Thursday night.

Spurs fell behind after just six minutes when Hugo Ekitike picked the ball up on the left before driving forward and curling his effort into the bottom-right corner.

However, Tottenham equalised in similarly impressive fashion when James Maddison – who got caught out for the opener – made amends with an assist for Pedro Porro.

Maddison dragged the ball back for Porro to flick into the back of the net with an instinctive, first-time backheel shot in the 27th minute.

Tottenham turned the screw as the game went on, hitting the woodwork three times and fashioning a number of big chances, but ultimately they had to settle for a draw.

Porro’s goal was especially impressive, and the German media also admitted they had seen something wonderful from the Spaniard.

Goal aside, Porro provided some good deliveries for his teammates, with one of his corners finding Rodrigo Bentancur for a header against the crossbar.

Porro also fashioned a great set-piece opportunity for Micky van de Ven, but on the flip side, his defending and passing was a bit shaky at times.
