Georgia coach makes prediction about Giorgi Mamardashvili ahead of Liverpool transfer
Liverpool are yet to make a summer signing but Arne Slot may be nearing his first addition since taking the Anfield hot seat.
This has been a quiet summer for Liverpool despite the arrival of new manager Arne Slot.
💖Anybody expecting big changes in the post-Jurgen Klopp era has been left rather underwhelmed.
Liverpool did attempt to get one big deal done but Martin Zubimendi reject a move to Anfield, deciding to stay put with Real Sociedad.
That was a major blow but♚ Liverpool are now closing in on another La Liga star – though the deal may still raise some eyebrows.

Georgia coach on Liverpool target Giorgi Mamardashvili
Liverpool hav﷽e decide𝐆d to move on from Zubimendi and even more on from prioritising a holding midfielder entirely.
Instead, the Reds are pushing to finalise the signing of Valencia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool are ‘getting close’ 🍨to signing Mamard🧔ashvili with a deal now in the ‘final stages’.
Romano adds that the dea꧃l is worth more than €30million (£25.6million) and Mamardashvili will return to 🍌Valencia on loan for a year.
Th𒊎at means that Slot won’t actually be able to select his first Liverpool signiᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚng until the start of the 2025-26 season.
Liverpool seemingly view Mam꧙ardashvili as the heir to Aliss𝔍on and the move has been assessed by Georgia coach David Webb.
Webb, a former Tottenham Hotspur scout, is📖 the rather surprising choice to assist Willy Sagnol with the Georgian national 💞team.
Mamardashvili was exceptional at ♏Euro 2024 as Georgia advanced from the group stage and 🍒Webb has heaped praise on the giant goalkeeper.
Webb has told that he thinks Liverpool are pulling off a ‘really shrewd’ signing by landing Mamardashvili, hailing his goalkeep✅ing attributes along🌸side his character.
Webb feels that Mamardashvili could even become one of the top goalkeepers in the world and backed the Georgian to challenge against Alisson if that competition mateꦇrialises.
“I think this is a really shrewd bi🤪t of a business,” said Webb. “Knowing him as we do, I think he’s got… not only the goalkeeping attributes, he’s an outstanding shot-stopper but he’s got a real good personality as well. When you work with him, you can see his character come out – he’s a very strong character, he’s a very hard worker, he’s very ambitious.”
“I think, in the nextꦿ two or three years, in my opinion, he can probably become [one of] the top three or fourও goalkeepers in the world.”
“I’m sure, down the line, Alisson might not be at Liverpool forever and he would take his chances of competing against Alisson and seeing if he can get through as well because, if you look at his history, when he was at Valencia he was signed as a fourth-choice kee💙per when he first came in, so I think he worked his way up within a year or maybe 18 months, so he’s definitely got that fight in him to compete,” he added.
Liverpool goalkeeping competition
Alisson has been Liverpool’s s🗹tar goalkeeper for the last six years but there has been speculati🌃on around his future.
Al-Nassr wanted Alisson earlier this summer and were willing to pay the B꧃razilian huge money to make the move to Saudi Arabia.
No deal materialisedꩲ with Alisson understood to be relu♉ctant to risk his spot as Brazil’s number one.
Liverpool may view💞 Mamardashvili as the future number one but will also be protecting themselves in case a huge Saudi Arabian offer arrives again in the next year.
This move isn’t great for Caoimhin Kellehꦚer though with the Irishman set to be overlooked in favour of Mamardashvili.
Kelleher wanted to leave Liverpool this summer but it appears that he will have to stay put this summer and no doubt tar🍌get a move in 2025 as Mamardashvili’s arrival draws closer.
