Gary Neville slates Tottenham star for ‘stupid’ mistake against Chelsea
Gary Neville has criticised Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie for his sending off against Chelsea on Monday night.
The Sky Sports pundit, commentating on the game, said the 20-year-old Spurs full-back’s challenge on Raheem Sterling was “just stupid”.
Neville also believes Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou “won’t believe the madness” he saw from his players in the match.
Spurs and Chelsea contested arguably one of the most dramatic Premier League encounters in recent history.
The first half alone featured, amongst other things, VAR ruling out multiple goals, a red card for Cristian Romero and two injuries for Tottenham.

Romero could’ve actually been sent off earlier. And likewise for Udogie, who escaped a red for a two-footed tackle on Raheem Sterling in the first half.
The 20-year-old received a booking for that challenge, but in the 55th minute, another late tackle on Sterling resulted in a second yellow.
“It’s just stupid from Udogie,” Neville said, as per the .
“Postecoglou won’t believe the madness that he is watching from his own eyes.”
Dejan Kulusevski had opened the scoring early on with an effort that deflected off Colwill.
However, Cole Palmer equalised from the penalty spot on 35 minutes after Romero’s red card for fouling Enzo Fernandez.
Although Tottenham tried to hang on after going down to nine, Chelsea ended up breaking their resistance in the 75th minute.
Sterling timed his run to receive Reece James’ pass before squaring the ball for Nicolas Jackson to tap in.
Jackson went on to score twice more in second-half injury time to add gloss to the scoreline.
Not a great game from Udogie but Spurs star will learn – TBR View
What a dramatic game that was. It didn’t take long for all hell to break loose and serve up a feast for the neutrals.
While it was a bad error of judgement from Udogie, we can’t be too harsh on him. He’s a young player and these things will happen.
Udogie knew he had made a mistake as soon as he made the challenge. He’ll be gutted but he’ll learn from it.
