Gary Neville says Liverpool player did something in 2-0 win vs Manchester City fans will never see again
Liverpool made Manchester City look like an U18 side in the opening 45 minutes of Sunday’s clash at Anfield.
The Reds went 1-0 up against the Citizens after just 12 minutes thanks to Cody Gakpo, who finished off a low cross from Mohamed Salah minutes after Virgil van Dijk hit the post with a header.
Manchester City looked a shadow of the side who have won the last four Premier League titles in a row, and Pep Guardiola must have been especially nervous every time Trent Alexander-Arnold received the ball, given how technically superb the Liverpool No.66 is.
During that blitz of an opening 45 minutes from Liverpool, the England international did something that Gary Neville doubts we will see again.
Gary Neville left stunned by Trent Alexander-Arnold pass
Just before Salah teed up Gakpo to tap beyond Stefan Ortega, it was Alexander-Arnold who ignited the attack with a scintillating pass, which cut through Manchester City like a hot knife through butter.
Neville was astounded by the quality displayed from the 26-year-old in that particular moment, saying live on : “You’ll never see a better pass from a right-back. That’s ridiculous.”

We’re not even sure if you can call Alexander-Arnold a right-back anymore nowadays, as he seems to pop up in several positions.
His exquisite pass actually came from the No.6 position – where Ryan Gravenberch usually resides under Arne Slot.
Latest on Trent Alexander-Arnold contract situation at Liverpool
Liverpool fans may have to enjoy these passes from the Liverpudlian while they still can, as he could well be leaving Merseyside in 2025.

Real Madrid want Alexander-Arnold at the Santiago Bernabeu next summer on a free transfer, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
TBR Football understand Liverpool staff are concerned about losing Alexander-Arnold, who is yet to make any public comment stating his desire to stay, like Virgil van Dijk and Salah have done.
Hopefully, Liverpool can get this situation sorted out soon, as it would be a devastating blow to lose such a unique talent, especially one who is also a local lad raised in the academy.
